The squad has been trimmed from 37 to 23, leaving behind the likes of Ashley Du Preez, Siyabonga Ngezana, and Fortune Makaringe.

Bafana Bafana will be preparing to meet Morocco at Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat on the 9th of June 2022. Bafana Bafana was also scheduled to play against Zimbabwe during this international break but now finds itself in a three-team group after the Confederation of African Football (CAF), upheld FIFA’s decision to ban Zimbabwe and Kenya from international tournaments.

Completing the Bafana group is Liberia, who is on position 149 in the latest FIFA rankings, making the away game against Morocco an important one for Broos’ men if they want to win the group.

South Africa last featured in AFCON in 2019, where they got as far as the quarterfinals
