Goals from Themba Zwane (51′), Pavol Safranko (61′, 72′) and Peter Shalulile (76′) secured the win on Friday night, with only Fortune Makaringe (90+2′) netting for Bucs late on.

Reflecting on the encounter, Davids explained the importance of bouncing straight back in their DStv Premiership encounter with Marumo Gallants on Monday.

He said on SuperSport: “That’s what we need to work on is the mentality of the players where we had such a good first half then concede in quick succession.

“That is what we need to take out of this where we don’t drop our heads or fold after that setback and continue to keep our shape and bounce back.”

Davids had revealed how the loss of a key player contributed to conceding far too easily after the half-time break at Loftus Versfeld.

“It’s strange to concede three set-pieces,” he said.

“We haven’t conceded a set-piece this season, our structure has been really, really good.

“You don’t want to make excuses but losing Olisa Ndah at half-time unsettled us but that’s no excuse. We’re usually good and solid at defending set-pieces and that’s what changed the game, by conceding early in the second half.”
