Goals from Pule Mmodi (4′, 59′) and Edson Castillo (87′) secured a first win of the season for Amakhosi at the FNB Stadium on Saturday as Usuthu remain winless.

Martin’s side started their campaign with three goalless draws and were again undone by some ineffective finishing after playing some enterprising football.

Speaking after the game, the Spaniard said on SuperSport: “I think today for anyone who didn’t watch this game is going to think that we are done and that AmaZulu are a bad team.

“But I think today, during many minutes of the game, we were superior to the opponents. We created too many clear goal-scoring chances to at least have a possibility to be in the game and to fight for the points till the end.

“Unlikely, we are lacking accuracy, and with that, it’s impossible to win games.”

Martin added: “I think we are improving. Today, I think we did worse in defence, especially in the first five minutes of the first half. Then, I think we controlled them pretty well.

“I said from the beginning, from pre-season, that this team is going to need time. What we are building is something that you cannot expect to be built in a month or two.”
