The war of words between Mamelodi Sundowns head coach and his TS Galaxy counterpart Sead Ramovic reveled in another chapter where the two once again pointed fingers at each other.

The so-called ‘beef’ between the two mentors was instigated when Ramovic aired the details of a phone call between himself and Rulani Mokwena, where the Downs coach was ousted for using foul language which was laced with borderline xenophobic remarks.

However, Mokwena retaliated by branding Ramovic an attention seeker.

This feud took another turn this week after Sundowns mopped the floor with Galaxy in a 3-0 DStv Premiership win at the Loftus Versfeld on Monday night.

In his post-match interview with SuperSport TV, Mokwena suggested that Galaxy players targeted Bongani Zungu as he broke Bernard Parker’s leg in October last year.

Orebotse Mongae was shown a straight red card in the 85th minute after administering a rash tackle on Zungu. However, Ramovic stood with a shield and spear in front of his players, protecting his team from all talks of seeking revenge for Parker.

“I did not see the tackle, but ironically he is the player who injured Parker, yes, but I can assure you that no one from our team can do anything (injure another player) on purpose,” said Ramovic.

“I heard from SuperSport TV that Mr Sunshine (Mokwena) said that we did it on purpose. To say something like this is very low and I did not want to comment on it.

“We are a team that sticks to fair play, we want the sport to unite and not divide. We will never do anything on purpose to hurt anyone. This is part of our rules in our team and we will always be a fair team,” said Ramovic.

Meanwhile, Sundowns can wrap up the league with six games to spare if they can get maximum points against rivals Kaizer Chiefs this Thursday.

The Brazilians are tailed by Stellenbosch, who can only go as far as 61 points if they win their remaining five games. Victory for Masandawana will take them up to 62 points.

However, Ramovic hopes to see a more competitive Premier Soccer League next season and appears to have figured out a formula to derail Sundowns.

“It would be the best if we can all improve our teams because we have a lot of fantastic coaches in our league.

“If everyone improves, what will happen is that the points gap and the margin to win the title will be very small. So everybody gets a challenge to improve even more,” Ramovic explained.

He added: “If we all improve, we won’t have the same team that wins the championship every season.

“Maybe the day will come when the gap between Sundowns and other teams will be smaller. We know that we don’t have that kind of financial power but we have to find other solutions so we compete.”
