CAPE TOWN CITY FC vs CHIPPA UNITED

Venue: DHL Cape Town Stadium (19h30)

Cape Town City’s head coach, Eric Tinkler, is keen to capitalize on their recent run of excellent form when they face Chippa United at the Cape Town Stadium.

City secured three consecutive wins in the DSTV Premiership for the first time this season, defeating Richards Bay 3-1 in Durban last Sunday. This run has propelled them to fourth place in the standings, only eight points behind the league leaders, Mamelodi Sundowns.

Morgan Mammila’s Chippa United have also made a solid start under his guidance, losing just two of their first ten fixtures. A 1-1 draw with AmaZulu extended their unbeaten league run to four games, leaving them just two points behind Cape Town City in seventh place. Chippa United’s resolve was evident in their last match, where they finished with nine men after the dismissals of Thabiso Lebitso and Elmo Kambindu.

The last head-to-head meeting between these two sides in January ended in a 1-1 draw, while Cape Town City emerged victorious with a 2-1 win in October 2022. Keep an eye on Khanyisa Mayo, who has netted five goals for Cape Town City, and Elmo Kambindu, with three league goals for Chippa United.

ROYAL AM vs GOLDEN ARROWS

Venue: Harry Gwala Stadium (19h30)

Struggling Royal AM welcome in-form Golden Arrows, hoping to extend their unbeaten streak against their rivals in their fifth meeting.

Royal currently sit in 14th place on the table, having won only two games out of nine this season. In contrast, Golden Arrows are in third place with 20 points, having lost only once in nine games.

In their most recent league match, Royal suffered a 3-1 defeat at the hands of SuperSport United. Golden Arrows, under the guidance of coach Mabhuthi Khenyeza, had a strong start to the season but recently faced a setback in the Carling Knockout Cup quarter-final with a 3-0 defeat to AmaZulu FC. However, they had previously won their last four league matches.

The top scorers for Golden Arrows include Lungelo Nguse with three goals, and Ryan Moon and Knox Mutizwa, both with two goals. On the other side, Hopewell Cele has found the net twice in the league for Royal AM.

STELLENBOSCH FC vs RICHARDS BAY FC

Venue: Danie Craven Stadium (19h30)

Stellenbosch FC head into their clash with Richards Bay on a high note after a convincing 2-0 win against Polokwane City in the Carling Knockout Cup quarter-final. While they started the league slowly, they have had a mixed run lately, losing two of their last three league matches. Currently, they occupy the 12th position after nine games, with 10 points.

Richards Bay FC, on the other hand, caused a sensation by defeating Orlando Pirates 5-4 in a penalty shootout during the Carling Knockout Cup quarter-final over the weekend. However, they have struggled in the league, losing three of their last four matches. In the league standings, Richards Bay are in 15th position with six points after 10 games.

In their previous two encounters, Stellenbosch FC won the last league meeting 2-1 in February 2023, while Richards Bay secured a 2-1 victory in September 2022. Keep an eye on Jayden Adams, with two league goals for Stellenbosch, and Sanele Barns, who has scored two league goals for Richards Bay.

The DSTV Premiership is heating up, and these matchups promise to be thrilling encounters.
