Masandawana head coach Rulani Mokwena opted to make wholesale changes to his line-up for this DStv Premiership clash with the second leg of the CAF Champions League semi-final against Esperance coming up on Friday.

Mokwena was rewarded with a quick start to the contest as his fresher players raced into a 2-0 lead inside the first eight minutes.

Tashreeq Matthews gave the defending league champions the lead in the first minute of the game, producing a neat finish for his maiden goal for the Tshwane club.

Matthews was again involved as Sundowns doubled their advantage, taking advantage of a defensive lapse before setting up Thapelo Morena to make it 2-0.

Sekhukhune had a number of great chances to get themselves back in the game but Linda Mntambo and Jammie Webber squandered great opportunities.

The visitors received a lifeline five minutes after the halftime interval when they were awarded a penalty as Brian Onyango committed a needless foul and Chibuike Ohizu converted the spot-kick.

Goalkeeper Jody February made a few good saves to ensure Sundowns remain unbeaten after 22 matches while six more points will take them to an unassailable mark of 62 points.
