Orlando Pirates will be aiming to keep their CAF Champions League hopes alive with a much-needed win over a dangerous TS Galaxy side at Mbombela Stadium on Saturday.
The Buccaneers are still smarting from a surprise 1-0 defeat at the hands of Richards Bay in their previous DStv Premiership encounter. The loss dashed their hopes of climbing to the second spot in the league table, a position currently held by Stellenbosch FC, who also stumbled in a 2-0 loss to Moroka Swallows.
Despite the setback, Pirates head coach, Jose Riveiro, remains steadfast in his ambitions for continental football.
“We want to be in the Champions League next season, but now Stellenbosch is in that place,” said Riveiro, underlining the significance of the upcoming match.
On the other side, TS Galaxy’s coach, Sead Ramovic, is eyeing a win to secure their spot in the MTN8 next season.
Ramovic stressed the importance of finishing in the top five, equating it to winning the league title. “If we finish in the top five this season, we will celebrate it just the same as if we had won the league,” stated the German coach.
With Galaxy coming off three consecutive draws, they will be eager to turn the tide against Pirates.
The Rockets currently sit fifth on the league standings with 40 points after 27 games, poised to make a statement in their final matches of the season.
