Amakhosi’s struggles are well documented and plans are already in place to restructure their coaching staff for next season.

Under Cavin Johnson, Chiefs bowed out of the Carling Knockout Cup in the first round, after a 1-0 defeat to AmaZulu.

The Soweto giants also crashed out in the first round of the Nedbank Cup, on penalties to Motsepe Foundation Championship side Milford, and currently sit in eighth place in the DStv Premiership standings.

Johnson’s side most recently went down 2-0 to Chippa United and are next in action against struggling Richards Bay on Sunday.

“Obviously we are concerned. Especially when we look at some of the games where we made a lot of opportunities but the ball just wasn’t going into the net,” Sithebe told the club’s website.

“As players, we need to pull up our socks and keep working as hard as we can in the remaining games.

“We want to first secure our place in the top eight, but we want more than that. We still want to qualify for a CAF competition next season.”
