The 33-year-old former Bloemfontein Celtic centre-back has been left without a team since leaving Kaizer Chiefs last season.

Mathoho was spotted training with SuperSport United prior to the start of the new campaign but he did not secure a contract with the DStv Premiership club.

He was also reportedly turned away by recently-promoted side Polokwane City.

Matsatsantsa boss Gavin Hunt said on FARPost: “He came in, Erick asked me to train, and I said okay, but I know we’re pretty full in that position where he plays.”

Mathoho added: “I am just relaxing and attending to some personal staff. I think now I cannot tell where I will be playing this season.

“But when the time is right, people will know about my next move. I think now people can wait.”
