IN THE DUGOUT: Bernard Parker promises to walk in the footsteps of Sead Ramovic in new TS Galaxy journey alongside Vuyo Mere

Just like a mathematical equation, what happens on the right-hand side must also transpire on the left to strike a balance. This is the approach that Bernard Parker will employ in his new journey as head coach of TS Galaxy’s DStv Diski Challenge team.

Just like a mathematical equation, what happens on the right-hand side must also transpire on the left to strike a balance. This is the approach that Bernard Parker will employ in his new journey as head coach of TS Galaxy's DStv Diski Challenge team.

Parker enjoyed a two-decade-long playing career where he spent the majority of his time with Kaizer Chiefs before his denouement at The Rockets.

The former Amakhosi attacker has been deployed in the feeder team where he will join forces with an equally seasoned campaigner in Vuyo Mere.

The duo have seemingly hung up their boots in exchange for seats in the dugout where the plan is to mirror Sead Ramovic’s tactics, strategies, and playing schemes in the DStv Premiership outfit.

“It is pretty obvious that we have to do the same things that the first team are doing,” Parker told Hollywoodbets Brand Ambassador Robert Marawa on 947.

“Me, being in the first team during my recovery, I sat with the coaches in the second round of the season and we planned together and came out with ideas and solutions. We want to close that gap between the reserve team and the first team.

“The DDC is a professional league, just that the age quota says Under-21. But they should do the same thing as the first team and that is what myself and Vuyo are going to do and make sure that any player who makes that transition from the DDC to the first team would be a complete player,” Parker added.

Mere and Parker spent two seasons playing alongside each other at Galaxy, while the former was less involved on the pitch, Parker reckons that ‘Smereza’ will be equally as influential in shaping the youngsters.

"Vuyo's experience is massive and his influence in the team is unbelievable."

“Vuyo and I speak every day. We are both excited and with experience, he was in his 23rd season and he had one more game to become the player who made the most appearances in the PSL era,” said Parker.

“At Galaxy last season we had many youngsters in our team and we managed to give our best in terms of trying to inspire the boys.

“Together with the coaching staff, we managed to bring the best out of the players. We are not just hoping but we are going to do our best to get the best out of the DDC team. It is an exciting journey and it is a tough one. We both believe that we are going to do a good job,” Parker concluded.

Galaxy, meanwhile, will take part in the Mpumalanga Premier’s International Cup between 20 and 27 July. Among the participants are 2022/23 CAF Confederation Cup finalists, Young Africans, who also have a pre-season friendly lined-up against Kaizer Chiefs at the Toyota Stadium in Bloemfontein on May 28.
