Zungu signed a two-year contract with an option to extend with Mamelodi Sundowns during his second stint with the Brazilians after joining from Ligue 1 side Amiens SC in 2022.
After his contract ended, Sundowns opted not to exercise their one-year option to hang onto the 31-year-old midfielder.
Tiyani Mabasa from Unplayable reveals that the midfielder is unlikely to join Orlando Pirates but there is a possible transfer to Saudi Arabia.
“Zungu may end up in Saudi Arabia, there is a team that is after him there, but I don’t know the name of the team,” Mabasa said.
“But a player like him has played in France earning big money, he comes back to Sundowns he earns big money, then if he goes to Pirates can you guarantee him what he has been earning at these clubs?
“So, some deals you can see from a distance that it will be challenging to begin with, for me I will have to do more research, but I doubt it will happen (Zungu joining Pirates).”
