Mamelodi Sundowns head coach, Rhulani Mokwena has provided an injury update on his squad ahead of their CAF Champions League Group B clash against Al Ahly at Loftus stadium on Saturday.
The Brazilians are unbeaten with seven points on the mini log table, while Ahly are third with just four points.
Mokwena told the media that midfielders Siphelele Mkhulise & Bongani Zungu picked up injuries against Ahly & Gallants (in the Nedbank Cup) respectively and will miss the clash in Pretoria.
Abuki Nasir, Lebo Maboe, Lesedi Kapinga, Rushine De Reuck, Musa Lebusa & Erwin Saavedra will all miss the clash as they are recuperating from various forms of injuries. Striker Gift Motupa suffered a toe fracture, while Thabiso Kutumela had family issue to take care of.
Mokwena will not be bothered that much as he has an embarrassment of riches at his disposal to overcome any challenges and injury crisis. He has started his Sundowns career on an undefeated note and in his first outing as a solo head coach in the champions league has brought less tension on his shoulders and the rest of the technical team.
Sundowns need to win this match against Ahly to confirm their spot in the next round of the Champions League. The first leg in Cairo ended 2-2 as Sundowns goals were netted by Peter Shalulile and Thapelo Morena in the dying moments.
