The 28-year-old arrived at Sundowns in 2020 from Black Leopards, signing a three-year deal with a two-year option to extend with the Club. However, Kapinga spent most of his time on the sidelines at the Brazilians, which saw the current champions not exercising their option to extend their contract with the player.

The attacking midfielder was also linked with Kaizer Chiefs, but the mighty Buccaneers emerged as the favorites to beat their neighbors in securing Kapinga’s signature.

The player joined Pirates on a three-year contract after participating in the recent Hollywoodebts COSAFA Cup with Bafana Bafana.

Orlando Pirates confirmed the signing of Lesedi Kapinga on the Club’s official website.

“Orlando Pirates Football Club is pleased to announce the signing of Lesedi Kapinga ahead of the 2023/24 season.

The 28-year-old attacking midfielder, who recently played for Bafana Bafana in the COSAFA Cup, has put pen to paper on a three-year deal.”

The player also said he is looking forward to representing the Club.

“I am pleased to join the Club. “I’m not much of a talker because talk is cheap. All I’m focused on is to start training and working my way back to playing the game I love,” Kapinga speaking on Orlando Pirates’ website.
