SuperSport will kick off the new campaign with an MTN8 quarter-final clash against defending champions Orlando Pirates at Orlando Stadium in Soweto on Saturday at 18:00.

Statements such as being destructive have come out of Matsatsantsa’s camp as they put the final touches before getting down to serious business.

Though they have lost some key players such as Shandre Campbell and Kegan Johannes, Hlatshwayo believes SuperSport have recruited well to stage a proper title fight next season.

“We have lost a few players and we have also recruited quite a few experienced players who have been in the PSL for quite some time,” Hlatshwayo told the media during the club’s announcement ACDC Express as a new sponsor.

“I think the guys that we have now when you look at that we have let go of Kegan Johannes and Shandre Campbell and when you look at, we have brought in (Vincent) Pule, (Nyiko) Mobbie, I think they are good replacements.

“It’s guys who have a lot of experience even at the international level.”

SuperSport are aiming to improve, especially in the Betway Premiership where they finished in 7th position last season.

“As a team, we are not too happy with the position that we ended up in because if you look at the first half of the league, we were doing so well, sitting there on the top three and top six and we finished at number seven,” Hlatshwayo said.

“I think for us the lessons are to keep the clean sheets and make sure that we take our chances.

“When I look at some of the games that we have played if we managed to keep clean sheets and scored a single goal it could have made a difference on the log.”
