The 33-year-old Zimbabwean forward, who opted to skip the preseason at Naturena, may be on the verge of a return to Cape Town, where he once began his South African football journey with Ajax Cape Town in July 2010, when he joined from CAPS United.

Despite a season marred by injuries last year, Billiat remains one of the most accomplished players in the history of the Premier Soccer League (PSL). Football enthusiasts were puzzled by the lack of news surrounding his next destination after leaving Chiefs.

Recent reports from iDiski Times suggested that Cape Town City FC were keen on securing Billiat’s services. The intrigue deepened when it was revealed that his former teammate from both Ajax Cape Town and Chiefs, Lebogang Manyama, had joined City as an assistant to head coach Eric Tinkler. Manyama’s presence could potentially sway Billiat’s decision.

City chairman John Comitis, who was at the helm of Ajax Cape Town when Billiat initially arrived in South Africa, confirmed the club’s interest in the talented forward.

In a conversation with Thabo Mosia on Radio2000’s GameOn, Comitis, while maintaining a degree of secrecy, hinted at Billiat being a strong consideration for Cape Town City.

When asked about the possibility of signing Billiat, Comitis responded, “Who wouldn’t be interested? I think he’s 33 years old now, and yes, you never say no to a player like that. I’m not sure about his intentions at the moment, but it’s certainly something worth pondering.”

When pressed further about whether he had initiated talks with Billiat, Comitis playfully deflected the question, stating, “Who’s speaking to you now from my club? Just remember, I brought Khama from Zimbabwe to South Africa when I was at Ajax, remember that? So, I know what Khama’s all about.”

Comitis concluded the discussion by emphasizing the positive history and relationship he shares with Billiat, hinting that their past experiences could potentially influence the player’s decision.
