Head coach Cavin Johnson has stressed the importance of his Kaizer Chiefs side winning their remaining fixtures to secure a top eight finish in the DStv Premiership.

Chiefs are clinging onto eighth position in the DStv Premiership standings – which secures a place in next season’s MTN8 competition – with two matches remaining of the current campaign.

Johnson’s side are equal on points with Polokwane City on 35 points with Golden Arrows a point behind in the race for eighth.

Amakhosi next host Polokwane at FNB Stadium on Saturday before travelling to relegated Cape Town Spurs in their final fixture of the 2023/24 season.

“It’s about winning every game and the top eight is very important to the club,” Johnson said.

“It is vital that we take the next two games as cup finals, whereby also the last six games we had treated also as cup finals.

“You can see in last week’s game, and this week’s game that our problem is not that we’re playing bad football. But, we’re failing to put the ball in the back of the net.”
