Despite the excitement these potential signings have generated among fans, Nabi firmly stated that there are no ongoing negotiations for either player while emphasising the club’s commitment to ethical conduct and respect for existing contracts.

Tau, who is currently with Al Ahly, is contracted until June 2025. Nabi highlighted that if an opportunity to sign the Bafana Bafana vice-captain arises, Kaizer Chiefs would adhere to proper channels and FIFA rules.

Tau has been a key player for Al Ahly, contributing 27 goals and 13 assists in 109 appearances, playing a significant role in the club’s recent successes.

“There are no negotiations with Percy Tau because I believe he still has one year left on his contract,” Nabi told OnTime Sports.

“Kaizer Chiefs respects the FIFA rules. If ever there’s an opportunity to sign him, it will be through official channels. We respect Al Ahly, they are a great team.”

Mayele, who plays for Pyramids FC and is contracted until June 2026, has also been a subject of speculation. Nabi shares a close bond with Mayele from their time together at Young Africans, where the striker scored 54 goals under Nabi’s guidance.

Despite this connection, the Amakhosi mentor has clarified that there are no negotiations with Mayele, as Pyramids FC are not willing to release him.

“It’s the same situation with Fiston Mayele. He’s like family to me; we worked well together [at Young Africans]. But he has a contract with Pyramids, and he’s not available. We respect that and have not engaged in any negotiations.”

Nabi’s recent signings at Kaizer Chiefs include Angola international Miguel Inacio, along with Gaston Sirino, Bongani Sam, Fiacre Ntwari, and Rushwin Dortley.
