This Saturday the country and families will be divided into two, as the Soweto giants Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates will be battling it out in one of the biggest games in the continent.

The home side Kaizer Chiefs are coming into this mouth-watering fixture as underdogs after failing to win a game since the resumption of the DStv Premiership. To compound matters, the Glamour Boys haven’t found the back of the net in their last three matches and were eliminated from the Nedbank Cup by ABC Motsepe side Milford.

Coach Cavin Johnson’s troops will be looking to avenge themselves in this encounter as the Mighty Buccaneers claimed the bragging rights of the Soweto derby in November last year thanks to Bafana Bafana striker, Evidence Makgopa who gave the Sea Robbers a 1-0 victory.

Chiefs legend and Hollywoodbets ambassador Brain Baloyi, in an interview with our Sports Content Co-ordinator Ayanda Vezi, said the players at Chiefs should be playing for their lives on the day.

“For me, in the last two, three years the Derby has been very unpredictable and there are a lot of things that contribute to it but right now, yes and no that the underdog tag would be an advantage to the other, the only advantage they have is that on the players they under pressure but not as much under pressure as being favourites,” he said.

“But I tell you Chiefs is more under pressure right now and whether they go to a game as underdogs or not, I think for players at Chiefs, any of them that are there right now they should be playing for their lives because end of the season new coach must come in, new players must come in, and Derby is one opportunity of that makes or breaks players. This an opportunity for them to not only make a name for themselves but to salvage a little pride left that our supporters can have,” he said

When Spiderman was asked if Kaizer Chiefs players are putting in extra work Baloyi said the players that are at the Glamor Boys are not Chiefs material.

“Whether you do extra work or not, extra work is not going to win you matches. So there are lots of things that contributed to them not winning but at the core of it, I have said this many times in the last two years and at times people thought even the club would say I’m criticising too much.

“But for me, if you are criticizing, you are criticizing because you love the club, and if you sugarcoat things then it’s not going to help. The fact of the matter here is most of the players that are there, they are not Chiefs material. If they are then they must prove me wrong, they must prove everyone else wrong,” he said.

AmaKhosi will host Golden Arrows tomorrow before they welcome their rivals Orlando Pirates on Saturday at the FNB Stadium on Saturday.
