Chiefs’ quest for a win faced a setback with their winless streak extending to four matches. The DStv Premiership encounter on Saturday against Swallows saw defender Edmilson Dove receive a red card early in the second half following a reckless challenge on Gabadinho Mhango.

Johnson strategically introduced changes to the line-up, bringing in Wandile Duba and Dillan Solomons. Duba, 19, making only his second appearance this season, had previously played a mere minute against Royal AM.

Reflecting on Duba’s performance, coach Johnson acknowledged the challenges posed by being a man down. He expressed, “If we had maybe the extra man, then maybe you would have seen Wandile (Duba) in a better performance.” Despite the circumstances, Johnson commended Duba for defending from the front and making notable moves.

Johnson analysed specific instances, stating, “I think he made one or two. It was really telling that if everybody else read that move, then maybe someone else would have scored because he didn’t go on to score goals; he just went on to challenge the game.”

Looking ahead to their next fixture against Golden Arrows on Tuesday at FNB Stadium, Johnson hinted at Duba getting more playing time, emphasizing the 19-year-old academy graduate’s potential impact on the field.

As Kaizer Chiefs navigate a demanding schedule, all eyes are on youngster Duba to further shine and contribute to the team’s future success.
