Kaizer Chiefs have snapped up Cape Town Spurs defender Rushwin Dortley.
The Motsepe Foundation club made the announcement on Thursday, with the 22-year-old choosing to join Amakhosi amid reported interest from SuperSport United and Stellenbosch.
Dortley, who captained South Africa at the recent COSAFA Cup, was being tracked following his consistent performances for the Urban Warriors over the past few seasons and made 28 appearances last season as Spurs lost their battle to retain their top-flight status.
Spurs posted on Twitter: “Warrior Becomes Chief: We would like to thank Rushwin and his family for the belief and trust they entrusted in us over the years.
“With their support and patience , we were able to mould Rushwin into the great player and person that he is.
“We wish Rushwin many blessings for his future endeavours.”
Dortley’s arrival at Chiefs will go some way to softening the blow of injuries to Edmilson Dove and Bongani Sam and following the release of Sifiso Hlanti and Njabulo Ngcobo.
