Amakhosi recently returned to South Africa following a pre-season tour of Turkey.

They defeated Qatari club Al Shahaniya 5–2 and drew 0-0 with Al Dibba Al Hisn from the United Arab Emirates.

Reflecting on the trip, Motaung Jr. said he felt a good base had been built for pre-season preparations to continue at home before the new season.

He said on the club’s website: “We are satisfied with how our preparations have gone so far.

“It has not been easy, but the boys showed their tenacity and mental strength. Being away from family and friends in a foreign country is never easy but we came together as a team and did it.

“The team and the coaches will continue to work on the new season’s preparations because we need to ensure that we are ready to compete when the season starts.”

Chiefs will be hoping to improve on their worst-ever placing in the South African top flight in the upcoming campaign, having ended in 10th place last time out.

“We know it’s not going to be easy and it will take a bit of time, but we do know that supporters will journey with us as we try and get back on track,” added Motaung.

The Premiership side are next in action against Tanzanian giants Young Africans in the inaugural Toyota Cup at the Toyota Stadium on Sunday.
