Still, the former Chiefs skipper insists the Tunisian needs to be provided with the proper tools to help Amakhosi return to their glory days.

Numerous media reports have stated that the current head coach of Moroccan side FAR Rabat has agreed to a deal to join the Chiefs ahead of the 2024/25 DStv Premiership season.

If indeed does take over the steering at the Glamour Boys, Nabi has massive tasks to help the best-supported South African football team end their unprecedented nine-year trophy drought.

Having done it to help clubs like Young Africans of Tanzania get back to the top, Radebe is quite confident Nabi can also do it for the Chiefs.

Radebe said that the Soweto Giants going for a coach such as Nabi shows the management’s seriousness about turning the tide.

“Apparently, he is the coach for next season, which for me shows the club’s intentions, because it has been disappointing for more than five years at Naturena (village) with the Glamour Boys,” Radebe told the media at an event in Johannesburg recently.

“The glory days have really gone away but I think with coaches like Nabi, I heard that he is bringing all his technical staff, it’s a huge responsibility for the club to get it back to where it belongs.”

To do that, Radebe has suggested that Chiefs should be prepared to go deep in the market and ensure they don’t sign players for the sake of it.

“You know for such a big club like Kaizer Chiefs, you need big players, and quality to compete locally first with (Mamelodi) Sundowns and (Orlando) Pirates and possibly get back to the Champions League but you have to start at a local level first,” Radebe said.

“With Nabi, for me, I think it’s a good acquisition and surely, we will see a changed Kaizer Chiefs side next season.

“If you look back to the glory days of Kaizer Chiefs, they had great players and quality players. So, that’s what you need to bring the brand to where it belongs.

“You can look at why Sundowns are winning everything, why all the successful teams are being so successful. It’s because of the quality they have inside the field of play.”

After missing the Botola Pro league title by a single point, Nabi will hope for a happy ending to the season with Rabat through the Moroccan Throne Cup.

Rabat will take on MAS Fes in a semifinal clash in Agadir on Sunday.
