The 24-year-old winger joined Chippa United on loan this season to improve his chance of minutes in the DStv Premiership after a disappointing loan spell with AmaZulu in the last campaign.

But he managed just a handful of games before injury cut his season short and is now eyeing some stability back with the Brazilians.

Glyn Binkin told Soccer Laduma: “In respect to Phakamani and his future, as you are aware he is on loan to Chippa until the end of the season.

“The past few months have been challenging for him as he works hard to overcome his Achilles injury and subsequent rehabilitation process.

“We hope he will be back on the fields in the very near future and that he is able to regain the form and qualities that made him one of South Africa’s most exciting prospects.

“Thereafter, Sundowns have an option to extend his contract for a further period which option needs to be exercised by the end of May 2022 and we will then know what the players future holds. For now, the focus is on getting Phakamani back to full fitness.”
