Despite the Bucs’ family expressing disappointment over the result, Makaringe emphasised the team’s commendable effort and unity in a challenging match.

Having been on the periphery for the past two campaigns, Makaringe acknowledged the competition from players like Ndabaythethwa Ndlondlo, Miguel Timm, and Thabang Monare. However, he maintained a positive outlook, stating, “Yes, it’s enough to play a draw away because the Bucs need the points, but it was a very good performance from the team. We will keep growing from this.”

Coach Jose Riveiro’s tactical acumen was evident as he strategically deployed players out of their conventional positions, a trend observed with Paseka Mako, Zakhele Lepasa, Patrick Maswanganyi, Timm, and Ndlondlo in the past.

Makaringe, embodying the football ethos, expressed the significance of camaraderie, stating, “Football is a way of living, and it even makes it more comfortable if you have a good relationship with your teammates.

“For me, it was more about playing for the team, irrespective of the position I had to play. All I had to do was go and do the job for the team.”

The midfielder’s adaptability and commitment to the team’s cause were evident in his on-field performance. Despite the positional switch, Makaringe’s contribution did not go unnoticed, and his words reflected a determination to contribute selflessly to the collective success of Orlando Pirates.

As the Buccaneers enjoy a week off from action, they are gearing up to host Moroka Swallows next Tuesday in the DStv Premiership. Makaringe’s successful adaptation to the right-back role adds an intriguing dimension to the team’s tactics, providing coach Riveiro with a valuable asset in the upcoming fixtures.

The Pirates faithful can anticipate more tactical surprises as the team continues to evolve under Riveiro’s guidance.
