The Chilli Boys pulled off a 2-1 upset at Moses Mabhida Stadium after trailing Amakhosi 1-0 at half-time. Siphelele Luthuli equalised in the 54th minute and Edmilson Dove’s own goal gave the visitors the win.

Mammila revealed after the game that Chippa aimed to exploit Chiefs’ poor marking, and he believes the game plan already paid off after five minutes.

“I knew it was going to be a difficult match, especially given the fact that Chiefs had won all their last three league games,” said Mammila, as quoted by Sowetan Live.

“They’ve got weak points… they have classy players who don’t like chasing the game.

“So I told my players to control the tempo of the game, playing so that we take the steam out of them, and we did that in the first five minutes. They couldn’t mark us.”
