Saturday 22 October

8/10 Mamelodi Sundowns | Draw 22/10 | Orlando Pirates 7/2 (15:30)

After a goalless draw in the first leg, Mamelodi Sundowns will be looking to continue their free-scoring form when they host Orlando Pirates at the Peter Mokaba Stadium. Since drawing with Jose Riveiro’s side at the start of the month, Masandawana have scored goals for fun, netting 15 times in just two CAF Champions League fixtures against Seychelle side La Passe.

The Brazilians are firm favourites to book their spot in the final having won five of the last six meetings with the Buccaneers. The Soweto giants have lost their last two away games against Maritzburg United and Sekhukhune United, failing to score a goal. The home win should be backed.

Sunday 23 October

18/10 AmaZulu | Draw 2/1 | Kaizer Chiefs 15/10 (15:30)

After a 1-1 stalemate in the first leg, it is do or die for AmaZulu and Kaizer Chiefs as they meet in the MTN8 semi-final second leg for a place in the final. Amakhosi are the most successful team when it comes to the top eight showpiece with 15 victories from 21 final appearances.

Usuthu, however, are yet to get their hands on the MTN8 trophy but have a crucial away goal and will fancy their chances of an upset this Sunday.

Since their first leg meeting at the beginning of the month, AmaZulu lost at home to Richards Bay and drew away at Orlando Pirates, while Chiefs recorded away wins over Swallows and Stellenbosch before losing at home to Chippa United.

The last four meetings between these sides have ended in draws, and I’m expecting another tight affair here. My money is on another stalemate.
