Polokwane City have responded to reports that Lehlohonolo Seema quit the DStv Premiership club following a fall-out.

Seema surprisingly stepped away from his role as head coach after a solid start to the club’s first season back in the South Africa top-flight.

Rise and Shine side are currently in six place on the standings with 17 points from 12 games.

They are unbeaten in their last seven league games, since going down 2-0 to Mamelodi Sundowns in August.

A number of publications reported that the former Bloemfontein Celtic, Chippa United and Golden Arrows boss decided to step down from his post after a fall-out with chairman Johnny Mogaladi.

He has also been linked with the vacant seat at Sekhukhune United, following Brandon Truter’s exit.

But Polokwane COO Tincy Tema said in the Sowetan that City are unsure as to why Seema made the decision to leave but it wasn’t as a result of a disagreement.

“No, that’s not true. People will always speculate, but also, why don’t you ask that there is a rumour of him joining Sekhukhune United?”

“Maybe he wants greener pastures, but we will wait and see,” Tema explained.

“You will understand that we don’t know what prompted this because in the past two weeks, he was away to bury his father and we don’t know why he decided to go.

“Maybe there is something to do with the family, we don’t know. He just said it was for personal reasons.”

Phuti Mohafe has been appointed to take temporary charge of the team.
