Khanyisa Mayo has been in scintillating form this season for the Citizens, scoring 13 goals and providing 3 assists in all competitions to help his side finish in fourth position on the DStv Premiership table.

The 26-year-old has been linked with a move to Kaizer Chiefs in the upcoming transfer window, but City Chairman John Comitis has moved swiftly to secure the services of his star player for next season.

Mayo’s impressive form culminated in him receiving a call-up to Bafana Bafana during the 2022/23 season as well as finishing as joint-top goalscorer in the DStv Premiership with Mamelodi Sundowns striker Peter Shalulile.

The former Richards Bay star also walked away with Cape Town City’s Player of the Season award at an awards ceremony held at Cubana recently and will be hopeful of a spot in the next Bafana Bafana squad that is set to face Morocco.

South Africa is set to face Morocco in their final 2023 African Cup of Nations qualifier on 17 June
