Mabasa finished as the top scorer in the 2023/24 DStv Premiership with an impressive 16 goals for the Buccaneers.

The 27-year-old was in sensational goalscoring form for Pirates since his return from a loan spell at fellow Soweto side Moroka Swallows.

“In all honesty not really. Yes, each and every player wants to play for the national team,” said Mabasa on his Bafana non-inclusion.

“But I believe if it’s meant to happen, it will happen at some point.

“Look at Mshishi (Themba Zwane) what happened with him? He wasn’t selected at all and now he is being selected in each and every camp.

“So, for me, it’s not something that I think about quite a lot. Yes, I have been doing well, and like I said if it’s meant to happen it will happen.

“So, I’m not worried about that at all,” Mabasa concluded.

Pirates will renew their rivalry with reigning league champions Sundowns in the Nedbank Cup final at Mbombela Stadium on Saturday.

Kick-off is at 15:00.
