Vincent Pule is optimistic that reuniting with coach Gavin Hunt will lead to success for SuperSport United, similar to their previous achievements together at Bidvest Wits.
Pule recently joined Matsatsantsa from Orlando Pirates on a free transfer and is aiming to restore the winning synergy he shared with previous mentor Hunt. At the Sea Robbers, Pule endured limited playing time, partly due to injuries, making just 11 appearances with one assist in the 2023/24 campaign.
Reflecting on his past with Hunt, the 32-year-old winger fondly remembers their victorious 2016/17 season at Bidvest Wits, where they clinched the league title.
While also going on to win the Telkom Knockout, now known as the Carling Knockout, the following season.
“It’s an exciting time for me, playing for coach Gavin again,” Pule said.
“It motivates me a lot because where he coached before (Bidvest Wits) where I was at.
“We won the league, and we won trophies. So, I think we want to see SuperSport lifting a trophy this season.”
The Tshwane side will kick off their 2024/25 season with a challenging MTN8 quarter-final match on Saturday against the defending champions, Pirates and this encounter could see Pule facing his former team.
Pule also insists he is eager to return to regular action and hopes to make an important impact for SuperSport United.
“It’s going to be an exciting game and for me as well.
“It’s going to be an exciting match going back there (Orlando Pirates) playing against them in the first cup game.
“I’m looking forward to it.”
