Kaizer Chiefs have sacked head coach Molefi Ntseki after an inconsistent start to the season and have announced Cavin Johnson will take over the role on an interim basis.
Ntseki was appointed as Amakhosi coach at the beginning of the season when he vacated his position as the Soweto club’s head of development.
He had a mandate to deliver silverware with his predecessor Arthur Zwane demoted to work under him in the management team.
Nsteki though struggled in all competitions with Amakhosi already a mammoth 13 points behind DStv Premiership leaders Mamelodi Sundowns while they were eliminated at the semifinal stage of the MTN8 that was eventually won by rivals Orlando Pirates.
The death knell came this weekend when Chiefs lost in the Carling Knockout, going down 1-0 at home to Amazulu.

A statement from the club said: “Following a meeting on Monday morning, Molefi Ntseki’s tenure as Head Coach of Kaizer Chiefs has ended amicably by mutual consent.
“Given the recent run of disappointing results, the parties agreed that this was the best course of action under the prevailing circumstances.”
Sporting Director Kaizer Motaung Jr added: “I would like to thank Coach Ntseki for his contribution to the Club since he arrived here, both at the development level and with the senior team.
“We wish him success in his future endeavours.”
The Soweto giants also confirmed that Johnson will be assisted by Dillon Sheppard with Zwane redeployed to the club’s youth ranks.
