Kaizer Chiefs have been summoned to appear in front of a PSL disciplinary committee to answer for the behaviour of their fans who threw missiles at coach Molefi Ntseki after their weekend loss against TS Galaxy.

It is not the first time that Chiefs will have to answer for the undesirable behaviour of their fans and it is quite likely that they will have the book thrown at them.

Chiefs were fined in September 2022 and again in May 2023 when some of their fans vented their frustrations at then coach Arthur Zwane. Now it’s Ntseki in charge and the fans are still not happy.

Team manager Bobby Motaung was quick to ask for lenience and to point out that while the majority of Chiefs fans were well behaved it was just a handful who were letting the side down.

Speaking to the Sowetan he said: “It is not all the supporters, it’s a minority.

“People must be patient. The club will issue an official statement.

“It’s not fair to supporters who are not behaving like that. It is certain individuals who are not reasonable. We understand the emotions, but throwing missiles and breaking chairs doesn’t help,” he said.

When Amakhosi were fined in September after fans acted out following a disappointing performance against Stellenbosch in the MTN8 they were hit with a R200,000 fine. Half of that fine was suspended but it could well be reinstated now, a situation that Motaung pointed out was starting to become untenable.

“It’s got nothing to do with the club or results. It’s people’s behaviour.

“We as a club have to find solutions from a technical point of view, as players, on how we win games and how we rectify underachievement.

“Our supporters know how to engage with us through branches, and there are mediums of communication.

“It’s the start of the league. There are teams that are losing and those who started slowly. It depends on how the league will go.

“The coach is new, we have new players who are adapting, and we played four games, so we can’t be pressing panic buttons and having a crisis,” he said.

Still without a win in the league, Chiefs are in action again on the weekend when they host another winless outfit, AmaZulu, at FNB Stadium on Saturday.
