South Korean K1 League GW2 Preview

Soccer ball on grass

Jeonbuk Motors and Ulsan kicked off their respective title-chasing campaigns in style, claiming maximum points while keeping clean sheets on home soil. Gangwon’s Cho Jae-Wan scored an amazing backheel goal that is an early goal of the season contender. Daegu drew goalless at Incheon United that let our 5/1 treble out last week, let’s get to this weekend’s action and try to pick some winners that will help make us money.

Saturday 16 May

Sangju Sangmu 37/20
Draw 24/10
Gangwon 13/10
Sangju Sangmu will be happy to return to home soil after being humbled 4-0 away at Ulsan. Gangwon pulled off a second half come-from-behind victory against Seoul last time out. The hosts are unbeaten in four meetings on home soil against these opponents which include three wins. However, my money is on these teams to share the spoils at 47/20.

Daegu 27/20
Draw 2/1
Pohang Steelers 2/1
Daegu come off a disappointing goalless draw at Incheon United, while Pohang Steelers started their season with a 2-0 win over Busan I’Park. The last two meetings between these sides were goalless draws. The draw is a definite runner in this clash and I’m tipping it confidently at 2/1.

Busan I’Park 15/4
Draw 51/20
Jeonbuk Motors 7/10
Newly-promoted Busan I’Park host the reigning champions in this matchup. These sides last met in 2015 which saw Jeonbuk Motors win all three rounds of matches. This clash is straight forward, back the champs at 7/10.

Sunday 17 May

Suwon Bluewings 26/10
Draw 23/10
Ulsan 1/1
Suwon Bluewings don’t have the most desirable fixtures. After losing 1-0 to the champions last week, they now face Ulsan who come off a 4-0 win and are desperate to win the league this season. Ulsan won all three meetings last season. Back the visitors at even money in what should be another straightforward match.

Seoul 8/10
Draw 51/20
Gwangju 31/10
Seoul suffered a 3-1 defeat during their visit of Gangwon and will be happy to return to home soil. Gwangju need to avoid conceding early goals. The visitors come off a 2-0 loss at Seongnam where Yang Dong-Hyen scored twice in the opening 11 minutes. The last 12 league meetings have seen both teams score. Back Seoul to win and Both Teams to Score (Yes) in the Matchbet and Both Teams to Score market at 27/10.

Seongnam 23/20
Draw 21/10
Incheon United 24/10
Seongnam will be hoping to build on their 2-0 victory in the opening week of action. Incheon United come off a goalless draw and will be keen to get on the score sheet. The last five meetings between these opponents have seen under 2.5 goals scored. Take Totals – Under 2.5 Goals at 11/20.

TREBLE TIPPED @ 19/1
Sangju Sangmu vs Gangwon – Draw 24/10
Daegu vs Pohang Steelers – Draw 2/1
Ulsan Win 1/1
