Spanish La Liga: Gameweek 30 Preview

The Spanish La Liga returns after an unwanted international break. Gameweek 30 has some cracking matches to look forward to this weekend with great value on offer.

Saturday 31 March

To Win (90 mins)
Girona 13/20
Draw 28/10
Levante 9/2

(13:00)

Girona are enjoying their debut season in La Liga and sit in a surprising seventh place. The Catalan club’s impressive showings could see them represent Spain in the Europa League next season as they are only two points behind sixth-placed Sevilla. Pablo Machin’s men come into this game with an impressive home record, having won their last five games on their turf, scoring 14 goals without reply. Levante are unbeaten in their last three games with back-to-back wins. However, they’ve won just once in their last nine travels, suffering five defeats. Back the home win.

To Win (90 mins)
Athletic Bilbao 11/10
Draw 23/10
Celta Vigo 26/10
(16:15)

Athletic Bilbao have been very poor lately, winning just once in their last six games and losing four times. That poor run of form saw them being knocked out of the Europa league, leaving them with no chance of playing in Europe next season as they are 10 points away from sixth-placed Sevilla.

Celta Vigo have had a turbulent season with lots of ups and downs – lack of consistency has been the major problem for the Sky Blues. Celta come off a disappointing goalless draw at home to bottom side Malaga last time out. On the last four occasions when these sides met, Over 2.5 Goals have been scored and I expect that trend to continue. The Totals – Over 2.5 Goals – market is tipped at 11/10.

To Win (90 mins)
Las Palmas 15/2
Draw 52/10
Real Madrid 1/4
(18:30)

It’s been over 16 years since Las Palmas beat Real Madrid, and there’s not enough evidence showing they can end that disastrous run as they haven’t won in their last seven games.

Meanwhile, Los Blancos have won nine of their last 10 games. Cristiano Ronaldo scored four goals when Real Madrid beat Girona 6-3 last time out. The Portuguese star has been in phenomenal form scoring nine goals in his last four games. Back Real Madrid on (-1) Handicap at 13/20. Get on!

To Win (90 mins)
Sevilla 7/2
Draw 3/1
Barcelona 7/10
(20:45)

Sevilla were brought down to earth when they suffered a shock 2-1 defeat at Leganes last time out, straight after their magnificent display in the Champions League when they knocked out Premier League giants Manchester United. Vincenzo Montella’s men haven’t been as impressive in the league and they find themselves sixth on the log standings with a 30-point gap between them and their opponents.

Barcelona continued with their scintillating form when they beat Athletic Bilbao 2-0 last time out, leaving them 11 points clear of second-place Atletico Madrid. The Catalans are just nine games away from being the first team ever to win La Liga without tasting defeat. Back Barcelona Win & Both Teams to Score at 19/10.

Sunday 1 April

To Win (90 mins)
Espanyol 1/1
Draw 22/10
Alaves 3/1
(12:00)

Espanyol welcome Alaves at the RCDE Stadium on Sunday. Espanyol are unbeaten in their last four home games with two wins on the bounce. Quique Sanchez Flores saw his boys show great character when they came from a goal down to beat Real Sociedad 2-1 in their last home game.

Alaves come into this game off three consecutive defeats and they have lost four of their last five games on the road. This has been a very low scoring fixture which has seen only one goal scored in each of their last five meetings. Under 2.5 Goals is tipped at 11/20.

To Win (90 mins)
Leganes 28/10
Draw 23/10
Valencia 1/1
(16:15)

Leganes were very impressive last time out when they claimed a 2-1 victory at home to sixth-placed Sevilla. The Legionaries are well clear of the relegation zone and they could even finish in the top half. However, they have lost all of their last five meetings against Valencia. Marcelino can truly be proud of the job he has done for Valencia this season.

Los Che have won six of their last seven games and are well on course to make their Champions League return as they are 12 points clear of fifth-placed Villarreal. Back Valencia to continue with their dominance against Leganes.

To Win (90 mins)
Eibar 14/10
Draw 23/10
Real Sociedad 39/20
(18:30)

At some stage Eibar looked like a team that would finish in the top six, but their recent poor run of form has seen them drop all the way down to 11th on the standings. Eibar have won just once in their last six games and they come off a disappointing 2-1 defeat against relegation-threatened Levante. Just like the hosts, Real Sociedad have been struggling this season and they find themselves in 15th place on the log with 14 defeats in 29 games.

Both Eibar and Real Sociedad have been decent offensively and they have scored a fair amount of goals. Unfortunately, the same can’t be said about their defence as they have conceded 43 and 53 goals respectively. Both Teams to Score is tipped at 13/20.

To Win (90 mins)
Malaga 24/10
Draw 43/20
Villarreal 5/4
(18:30)

Malaga have been the whipping boys this season, losing 21 of their 29 matches played. The bottom-of- the-log side have been dreadful in front of goal this season, scoring just three goals in their last 14 games and a total of 16 goals. Villarreal were impressive last time out when they came from a goal down to beat second-placed Atletico Madrid to make it back-to-back wins.

The Yellow Submarine are fifth on the log, four points clear of sixth-placed Sevilla. A win here could see them stretch their lead to seven points, putting them one foot closer to the Europa League next season. Back the away win and include them in all bets.

To Win (90 mins)
Atletico Madrid 2/9
Draw 47/10
Deportivo La Coruna 12/1
(20:45)

Atletico Madrid’s chances of catching Barcelona were diminished when they conceded two late goals to lose 2-1 against Villarreal, which left them 11 points behind the Catalans. That defeat will definitely affect the team spirit in the dressing room.

However, this is a perfect game for Diego Simeone’s men to return to winning ways when they host out-of-form relegation strugglers. Deportivo have been in dreadful form as they remain without a win in their last 14 games, scoring just twice in their last eight outings. Back Atletico Madrid on a (-1) Handicap at 13/20.

Monday 2 April

To Win (90 mins)
Getafe 1/1
Draw 47/20
Real Betis 26/10
(21:00)

Getafe moved into the top half of the table when they stunned Real Sociedad 2-1 away from home last time out. However, the Azulones were very disappointing in their last home game when suffered a shock 1-0 defeat against relegation strugglers Levante. But prior to that, Getafe were unbeaten in their last 10 games at home.

Real Betis, who recorded a 3-0 win over Espanyol to make it back-to-back wins for the first time since February, will see this game as an opportunity to get into the top six as they are only two points behind sixth-placed Sevilla.  A cagey contest is on the cards and Both Teams to Score is tipped at 17/20.

QUAD @ 10/1

To Win (90 mins)
Real Madrid (-1) Handicap 6/10
Valencia Win 1/1
Villarreal Win 5/4
Atletico Madrid (-1) Handicap 13/20
