The English Premier League is the gift that keeps on giving and round three proved just that. The upset of the round is undoubtedly Liverpool beating Arsenal. That’s a joke, obviously. Speaking of jokes, Tottenham were beaten 1-0 on home soil by a resilient Newcastle side, while Manchester United suffered a 2-1 home defeat at the hands of Crystal Palace.
But this article is not about the teams but more about the individuals that made the difference on the day. Have a look at our best 11 from the weekend’s action below.
Martin Dubravka will take the gloves this week after keeping his backline organised defensively against Tottenham. The back four is made up of Van Aanholt, Engels, Vestergaard – who all managed to get on the scoresheet – and Schar for his solidity and fighting spirit at Spurs on Sunday.
Mo’ Salah was at his best against Arsenal scoring a brace to help Liverpool to a comfortable 3-1 victory. David Silva and Nathan Redmond were impressive in their respective teams’ wins over Bournemouth and Brighton and certainly deserve a mention.
A front three of Abraham, Aguero and Haller complete a terrific 11 with each bagging two goals over the weekend.
