“We are confident to face a team that, despite not having made a great Bundesliga, have had a great Champions League tie against Arsenal,” Ancelotti remarked during a press conference.
“In the Champions League, history counts a lot, it counts for them but that also plays in our favour.”
Both sides enter the fixture with notable achievements. Bayern, having ended their Bundesliga reign, secured a spot in the semi-finals for the first time in four years with a victory over Arsenal.
Real Madrid, on the other hand, eliminated holders Manchester City in the previous round and are poised to clinch their 36th La Liga title.

“We are two teams that don’t have a very clear identity … and we can play the games in different ways,” Ancelotti noted.

“But it’s only the first leg, it’s a 180 (minutes) tie which we face with confidence … but in the knowledge that we are up against a quality opponent with very strong individuals.”
With speculation rife about the starting line-up, Ancelotti remained coy, particularly regarding the defensive pairing alongside Antonio Ruediger. France midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni’s impressive performances in defence may earn him another nod from the coach.
“(Tchouameni) will play tomorrow… But in which position? I don’t know…” Ancelotti teased.
Eder Militao’s return to the starting line-up after a lengthy injury adds depth to Real Madrid’s defensive options, enhancing their prospects against Bayern’s attacking prowess.
