Kruger defeated Thames FC of North West by a 1-0 scoreline in the first semi-finals of the playoffs underway in Upington, Northern Cape.

Now the club from the town of Bushbuckridge will campaign in the country’s second tier, the Motsepe Foundation Championship (MFC).

MFC falls under the Premier Soccer League and the 16 teams that play in the division are fighting for elevation into the prestigious and lucrative DStv Premiership.

It remains to be seen which side will join Kruger in the MFC ahead of next season between Eastern Cape’s Highbury FC and Njampela FC from KwaZulu-Natal.

Highbury and Njampela are contesting the second semi-final at Mxolisi Dicky Jacobs Stadium in Upington at 15:00.

The winner of the second clash will not only gain promotion to the second tier but will also feature in the playoffs’ final against Kruger.
