"There is no space too great that women can’t fill." Hollywoodbets brand ambassador Carol Tshabalala reveals all on her meteoric rise to the top of South African broadcasting.
These are the words of a well-known sports broadcaster and Hollywoodbets brand ambassador Carol Tshabalala.
Tshabalala (43), a producer, freelance reporter and voice-over artist, got into sports at a very early age.
She said her journey started when she joined a pageant where the panel boasted celebrated members of the media.
“I must have impressed at the pageant as I won the overall title. I quickly used that platform to access opportunities at the SABC TV and I was granted an opportunity to present a show called Sports Buzz.
“This was an entertainment show that targeted young people in sports. That was the ultimate springboard that gave life to my career and since then I never looked back,” she said.
Tshabalala added that she has always loved the fact that sports has the ability to unite people from all walks of life globally.
She said in sports, is where people embrace their differences and come together in celebration of watching incredible athletes show casing their talents.
“I knew this was a world I wanted to be a part of. I am fortunate to have also travelled to many parts of the world and been blessed enough to immerse myself in various environments. Such experiences build you as a person and expand your horizon.
“I am living out my passion which makes my field of work such a pleasure to be in. I enjoy breaking barriers and excelling in this space. They say if you are led by passion, you will never have to work a day in your life and this is true. I feel whole doing what I do, and thus finding the balance is a seamless process for me. I also have the support of my family who have stood by me all these years.”
Tshabalala said throughout her career that she has learnt not to view anything in life as a challenge to take on.
“Sports has transformed my mind completely. Every day you get to follow the careers of the most amazing sportspeople, being put through their paces.
“Fighting their way to being the best. You see them embrace failure…and then work through it to emerge victorious. It’s a marvel to witness and those lessons can be applied to regular life,” she said.
Tshabalala further encouraged young girls and women who want to get into sports to take a chance and use opportunities.
“There is no space too great that women can’t fill. We are capable. We are powerful. Stand in your excellence and do everything you deem possible, there are no limits.”
Tshabalala revealed that she is passionate about contributing towards the growth of women and the youth and she has created a platform called Carol Cares Foundation.
