Race 4: SOUL OF SPAIN(8)

Magic Tips Best Bets

Race 1: DOLPHIN(4)
Jockey: Gunter WROGEMANN - Trainer: Robbie SAGE

DOLPHIN has shown lots of promise and was caught on the line by a smart sort over further on this track, four weeks ago. His wide draw is the only concern but the Trippi colt has plenty of early speed to negotiate the barrier position and he has good scope for improvement. This slightly shorter trip will suit him and he should go close in this opening event.

Jockey: Gavin LERENA - Trainer: Brian WIID

EYE THE COUNTESS made the expected improvement from her fair debut as she stayed on for 3rd over six furlongs at the Vaal, second time out. The runner-up boosted that form with an impressive subsequent victory and she should continue to progress. Her good draw is a major asset on her track debut around the turn and she should go very close in this field. Red-hot jockey Gavin Lerena gets the ride.

Race 4: SOUL OF SPAIN(8)
Jockey: Craig ZACKEY - Trainer: Sean TARRY

The juvenile filly SOUL OF SPAIN has faced winners in her improved last two efforts. She was never dangerous in those runs but took on stronger and those formlines have worked out well. The daughter of Toreador has lots of scope for improvement and she doesn't take on the strongest field of older rivals.

Jockey: Andrew FORTUNE - Trainer: Gary ALEXANDER

PIVOTAL PURSUIT has done extremely well since returning from his lengthy absence. He quickened smartly and fought back hard to win from a poor draw over this trip on the standside course last time and may have escaped with just a three pound penalty. The five-year old takes on a similar line-up but has cracked a very good draw and is proven on this tight circuit. He should go very close in this field.

Race 7: MARMALADY(3) (Each Way)
Jockey: Sherman BROWN - Trainer: Ormond FERRARIS

This is an extremely competitive fillies and mares handicap and caution is advised. The Ormond Ferrar- is inmate MARMALADY appears held on her last effort but that trip may have been beyond her reach, particularly as she raced wide on a long run-in. The four-year old won a very good contest beating SHAWL (1kg better off) by just over two lengths over this c & d in her penultimate run and she could make big improvement in this lower class, over an ideal trip. Her good draw is a definite plus.
