Neil Morrice: International Racing – Wednesday 2 September 2020

Neil Morrice Best Bets & Tips

Neil Morrice brings us all of his best bets and tips for Wednesday’s racing taking place at Bath, Lingfield Park, Wolverhampton, and Uttoxeter!

BATH

Race 1: No12 – BARTAT (Each Way)
Trainer: Mick Channon – Jockey: George Bass
A high draw on the sprint track is not as much as a disadvantage in soft conditions and gives the diminutive BARTAT a shot at taking the opener. The filly deserves a change of luck, and will not lack for assistance from the saddle.
Race 2: No3 – BOBBY ON THE BEAT (Nap)
Trainer: Michael Bell – Jockey: Cieren Fallon
After four earning runs BOBBY ON THE BEAT gets another chance to open his account and should prove hard to beat. The colt led everywhere bar the post when nabbed by Nastase at Chepstow and that winner boosted the form with a good run in defeat at Windsor.
Race 5: No6 – SRI SENE POWER
Trainer: Richard Hannon – Jockey: Silvestre De Sousa
SRI SENE POWER came back looking a much-improved filly when coping with the heavy underfoot conditions to score at Windsor. She’s the least exposed of anything in this fillies’ only handicap and can follow up for her top connections.

LINGFIELD PARK

Race 1: No4 – FOLK DANCE (Nap)
Trainer: David Simcock – Jockey: Jamie Spencer
FOLK DANCE landed a bit of a gamble in taking style at Newmarket and the daughter of Golden Horn is worth staying within this move up to a mile and a quarter. The easy conditions will be new territory for her but she’s bred to enjoy them.
Race 2: No8 – LAW OF ONE
Trainer: Sir Michael Stoute – Jockey: Jim Crowley
Stoute fields a couple in this novice stakes but LAW OF ONE has been working with plenty of enthusiasm and should make light of his lengthy absence from the racecourse. The son of Galileo shaped promisingly on debut at Chelmsford last autumn and appears to have gone the right way.
WOLVERHAMPTON

Race 1: No1 – DESERT VISION (Nap)
Trainer: James Tate – Jockey: PJ McDonald
DESERT VISION has a progressive profile and even though penalised for her success in a Sandown maiden sets the standard for the others to aim at. She made a bold fist of going all the way when switched to Polytrack at Lingfield last time and has the ideal draw (rail) for a horse that likes to get on with it.
Race 2: No8 – STREET POET
Trainer: Michael Herrington – Jockey: Tom Eaves
Every one of STREET POET’s eight career wins have happened here at Dunstall Park, and although he couldn’t sustain the sizzling gallop he served up last time this is a different scenario for the gelding who can thwart lightly raced improver Fresh Snow.
Race 3: No7 – LEAD SINGER
Trainer: John Gosden – Jockey: James Doyle
With only two outings under his belt LEAD SINGER has scope for plenty of improvement as he steps into the handicap arena. The Kingman colt troubled the judge in a big field at Kempton last time and is hard to get away from given his liking for sand and good draw from which to attack.

UTTOXETER

Race 1: No2 – APRES LE DELUGE (Nap)
Trainer: Fergal O’Brien – Jockey: Paddy Brennan
More than a year’s absence couldn’t prevent APRES LE DELUGE from justifying strong support at Southwell at the end of July. The gelding has been freshened up and can get the better of an interesting match-up with Balagan in this novices’ hurdle.
Race 5: No5 – CHASAMAX
Trainer: Nicky Henderson – Jockey: Nico de Boinville
This is a competitive handicap hurdle that could be run in slightly easy conditions. That’s good news for CHASAMAX who ran well to earn in each of his starts last season. While respect is afforded to Hunting Percival and Gavrocheka, Chasamax May have the most development to bring to the table and his stable is doing well with its few summer jumps runners.
