Winning Form Best Bets

Race 1: ALRAUNE(1)
Race 2: VORTEX STAR(8)
Race 4: ONLY TO WIN(8)
Race 5: EVERSILVER(3)

Magic Tips Best Bets

Race 2: ALI BON DUBAI(1)
Jockey: Juan-paul VAN DER MERVE – Trainer: Gavin VAN ZYL

ALI BON DUBAI continued his good form when staying on strongly for a close 3rd over an extra furlong on this track recently. The fitting of blinkers should enable the Lateral gelding to handle the mile and he has a huge say from the best draw.

Race 3: TWICE A DANCER(10)
Jockey: S’manga KHUMALO – Trainer: Sean TARRY

TWICE A DANCER was fancied when he posted a decent sprint debut on the standside course earlier this month and he should make natural improvement. He faces older rivals once again but would have come on with that experience.

Race 4: BOUDICA(1)
Jockey: Gavin LERENA – Trainer: Erico VERDONESE

BOUDICA is improving and she stayed on to finish 2nd best behind a highly rated type at the Vaal recently. She should continue to progress and her experience on this tight circuit is a definite plus. She is well drawn and is her yard’s only entrant on the card.

TOP BET
Race 6: COLD CASH(2)
Jockey: Gavin LERENA – Trainer: Gary ALEXANDER

COLD CASH is a lightly raced four-year-old filly who is improving and she could dictate her own terms to great effect in this six-horse field. She followed up her c & d double-digit maiden victory with a solid last display over ten furlongs on her handicap debut. The Bankable filly picked up a two-pound penalty for her troubles but could still be ahead of the handicapper and she has plenty going for her here.

VALUE BET (EACH WAY) FOR TODAY:

Race 8: YELLOW METAL(6)

Jockey: Juan-Paul VAN DER MERVE – Trainer: Sean TARRY

There are some very quick sorts in this highly competitive handicap over six furlongs and the likely suicidal pace could play into the hands of the best finisher. The lightly raced YELLOW METAL displayed her strong late burst when she beat FAVOUR’S PRIDE (1kg better off) by one length over this c & d in late February. The Tarry inmate was hiked four pounds for her exertions but she would have strengthened during the nine-week break and certainly appears to have much more to offer. She has another low mass and could mount a serious challenge.
