The Desert Chief formline on 17/03 could be worth following and the well-related COPPER TRAIL has claims on his first venture around the turn. The half-brother to multiple Grade 1 winner Copper Parade has posted two fair efforts to date and he was running on at the finish when 4th in the above event. His pedigree indicates that he will relish this extra furlong and he jumps from a good draw.

SINGING IN SEATTLE is above-average and she ran on well for 3rd in a feature over six furlongs on this course two weeks ago. That, on the back of her fair debut over this c & d and the daughter of Sail From Seattle should continue her rapid progress. She drops heavily in class now and is clearly the one to beat.
Race 3: BEAU VAR(1)
Jockey: Greg CHEYNE – Trainer: Justin SNAITH
BEAU VAR got back to form when running on steadily for 2nd on her local debut over five furlongs last month and she will strip fitter now. She was only a neck in front of SILKEN SUMMER that day and the pair meet on similar weight terms now but the former KZN resident would have gained plenty from her first local experience. It certainly helps that both rivals now face their own sex.
Race 4: OMEGA ONSLAUGHT(7)
The speedy OMEGA ONSLAUGHT expectedly just failed over the six furlongs on this course last time but today’s minimum trip makes the bay gelding an entirely different proposition. The four-year old smash- ed dual subsequent winner ZEVENASTIC over this c & d on his local debut late last year and is 3.5kgs better off with that rival. The Tara Laing inmate has his peak outing and he should raise his game in this stronger field.

Jockey: Stallone NAIDOO – Trainer: Gavin SMITH
MEGABUCKS stays well and he had an eye-catching comeback run over a mile at a similar level three weeks ago. He will strip fitter now and of course accounted for subsequent winner SHADY WORLD in the maiden ranks over 2400m three starts ago. The chestnut colt is however 3kgs worse off with the runner- up but still has scope for improvement and he could represent decent each/way value in this field.
