Race 2: OF THE MOON(2)
Jockey: Aldo DOMEYER – Trainer: Candice BASS-ROBINSON

OF THE MOON bounced back to form in her first venture around the turn and beyond sprints recently. She set the pace before tiring late in a competitive affair over seven furlongs and can certainly build on the progress. The well-bred chestnut filly produced a similar effort over this c & d in December and she has claims in a moderate line-up.
Race 5: GALLA PLACIDIA(6)
Jockey: Grant VAN NIEKERK – Trainer: Eric SANDS

GALLA PLACIDIA is often competitive in these handicaps and she will certainly prefer racing over the mile today. The bay mare just found ten furlongs beyond her recently but the runner-up of that event, Silvan Star boosted the formline with a subsequent victory. This daughter of Trippi finished just over one length adrift of the useful three-year-old ROCK ON WOOD that day and though the 0.5kg favourable weight terms doesn’t suggest the form can be reversed, the drop in trip clearly favours the former.
Race 7: PROFESSOR BRIAN(3)
Jockey: Grant VAN NIEKERK – Trainer: Joey RAMSDEN

PROFESSOR BRIAN is unbeaten as a gelding and he completed an impressive hat-trick of victories over this c & d recently. The four-year-old import was slow into stride in that last outing but he turned on the style over the final furlong to thrash a decent field by just over two lengths. He picked up a six-pound penalty for his troubles and he meets another competitive line-up but the son of Encosta De Lago gives every indication that he has more to offer.
Race 8: READY SET GO(6)
Jockey: Grant VAN NIEKERK – Trainer: Willem A NEL

READY SET GO quickly got her career back on track when finding her best form over this c & d two weeks ago. She probably should have gone even closer but for ducking inwards in the closing stages and there is still good progress to come from the well-related bay filly. The handicapper’s obviously watched her closely as she was upped two pounds subsequently but she could still be ahead of their early assessment. She finished three parts of a length ahead of the exposed FIFTY OTHER SHADES (0.5kg better off) that day but has much more to offer and should confirm the formline.

VALUE BET (EACH WAY) FOR TODAY:

Race 6: MISS HYDE(3)

Jockey: Bernard FAYD’HERBE – Trainer: Justin SNAITH

MISS HYDE is versatile and is seldom beaten far. She had some useful form prior to her fair last two outings and the Snaith inmate is gradually dipping in the merit ratings. The three-year-old daughter of Argonaut should give a good account of herself from a handy draw. That said, she will be severely tested by a few well handicapped four-year-olds, the pick of which are FERRERO ROCHA and LET’S GO GET IT.
