Race 2: MISS VARLICIOUS(2) – TOP BET
Jockey: Cormack S – Trainer: Gadsby P M
MISS VARLICIOUS is way above-average and her cracking form bears testament to this. The lightly raced daughter of Var is ideally c & d suited and she produced a strong finish to beat a good field going away in her last outing. The runner-up did the form little favour when finishing unplaced next time out but the Paul Gadsby inmate has huge room for improvement and she could have an exciting season ahead. Sean Cormack knows her extremely well and the pair could take all the beating in this field.
Race 3: CYCLONE SASSY(3)
Jockey: Marcus A – Trainer: Kotzen G S
This is a competitive maiden contest and could result in another exciting finish. The speedy CYCLONE SASSY has produced smart form in her three runs to date, all of which have come on this track. She was outrun late into 3rd over an extra furlong last time but could prefer the minimum distance and is a major contender with Anton Marcus in the irons. Incidentally, she is the stable’s only runner on this card.

Race 5: ETERNAL ICE(4)
Jockey: Marcus A – Trainer: Van Zyl G H
Once again there are some above-average maidens on display and this formline could be worth following. ETERNAL ICE is plagued with issues but has decent ability and is well-bred. He improved over six furlongs second time out and has changed stables since. However, it is encouraging that his new conditioner has kept faith with Marcus and the Western Winter colt is bred to love every bit of this extra distance. He jumps from a good draw on his first venture around the bend and he should be competitive.
Race 6: BUNKER BILL(7)
Jockey: Forbes A – Trainer: Gordon A D
There are some top class performers in this graduation contest which features a trio of three-year olds. BUNKER BILL is way above-average and his huge merit rating of 93 after only a maiden victory underlines that statement. The son of Dupont was twice drawn unfavourably over this c & d but produced two impressive efforts. However, his crushing maiden victory over a dual subsequent winner stands out in his formline and the Alistair Gordon inmate could be something exciting. He would have strengthened during his nine week absence and has huge room for improvement.
