Race 1
FISHY has finished in the placings half of her career thus far and showed up well in her latest when returning from a layoff. She could be rewarded for consistency in this moderate Maiden Plate. ROSEICAPILLA is another one who benefitted from a break, finishing runner-up in her first run after a rest. She looks the biggest threat to the top selection. DREAMY ALICE is inconsistent but can run into the places.
Race 2
CONCRETE MADAME returns from a rest and is the stable elect from the Peter Fernie stable. The stable companion GLUTEN FREE also returns from a break and the pair could just fight out the finish. DOUBLE THE PRO is an ultra-consistent gelding but he will find it tough to get past the top selection.
Race 3
BOS TAURUS is the value bet on the card. He impressed last time out when he set the pace and found extra to record his seventh career victory. All of his wins have come on good going which is very encouraging. TOO CLEVER is the stable elect from the Peter Fernie stable and must be respected with Mitchell Pateman in the irons but it would be no surprise to see one of the stablemates GANGBUSTER or WOCKNWOLL pick up the pieces.
Race 4
RED DIRT BOY was only beaten half a length last time on this track. He is still lightly raced and has obvious scope for improvement. HUSSTAR returns from a break after a disappointing effort at Albany but he has his first start on this track and must be respected. EMPOWERED has placed third in his last two starts but is having his 18th run as a maiden.
Race 5
MOONLIGHT’S REWARD only got pipped by a neck just one week ago and will not be short of race-fitness. LITTLE HERCULES was just behind the top selection in the race mentioned and could be the biggest threat in this contest. MANHATTAN MONEY shed her maiden tag last time and although she takes on stronger today, she looks a progressive sort.
Race 6
BANTRY should get across from his wide draw without using too much energy. He placed at long odds last time out and doesn’t meet the most competitive class 2 field this afternoon. RAPID EYE MOVEMENT did not disgrace herself in her first start out of the maidens and must be respected in this line-up. WEMBLEY DAYZ likes to race up with the speed and has finished just out of the placings recently. She mustn’t be ignored.
Race 7
GLIMMER GIRL is coming off a victory just one week ago and could make it a quick double, despite having to shoulder an extra 1.5kgs this time around. WATTO’S FURY finished just behind the top selection in the race mentioned and can get a lot closer this afternoon. The rest of the field look set to fight for the placings with PROZONE being the most appealing. He has finished third in his last three starts and must be considered in this contest.
