Race 1 – 17:17 – 3100m – 3 YO Claim Hurdle
A very modest opener on the card, with very little form worth noting. CHE SALOME improved in each of her starts since returning in February, with her latest effort resulting in a runner up finish over 2350m. She’ll have a lot more to come and should be one of the leading contenders at the business end. If anything, LOCMARIA may be the biggest threat, on what she has shown so far. The daughter of Outstrip competed over the flats last year and didn’t quite shape when taking a steep rise in distance on her return recently. That was her first attempt over the hurdles, but she would’ve needed that run and she could be worth following 2nd up. MARTA DES MOTTES didn’t show much in that debut run over 2350m, but she featured quite prominently in the betting, suggesting that wasn’t her best effort. With improvement to come and the rise in trip, she could surprise.

Selections: 13 – 12 – 5 – 2 – 8

Race 2 – 17:52 – 3100m – 3 YO Hurdle
FALDEX gave a solid account of himself on debut, just over two months back. Stepping out over 2400, he stayed on gamely in the closing stages for just a 2,5-length defeat and the son of Falco will be looking to go into contention first up here. There is no doubt that he would’ve benefitted immensely from the experience gained in that career opener and with improvement, he should win this. SIN DEL RIA resumes after a 2-month break, having finished 5th in that debut run over 2350m. He would’ve learnt a lot in that outing and the son of Sinndar should relish this step up in trip. He should be the biggest danger to the top one.

Selections: 11 – 3 – 4 – 8 – 1

Race 3 – 18:27 – 1600m – 4Up Class 3 Handicap
LIPSTICK gave a good sight on return to racing last time out, over the 2100m. He tends to need his first run back after a rest, but on his second up record of four places from four attempts he should go a lot closer this time. The drop in trip will suit and he should be the one to beat here. USAIN BEST was starting to show signs of a big run before the forced break.  He disappointed on his return last time out, but the son of Whipper will strip a lot fitter this time and if finding that prior form over this sort of trip, he’ll be right there at the business end. RED DUMA and BAFANA LINNGARI both have the credentials over this trip to feature in the finish, should they not be too in need of this outing.

Selections: 6 – 12 – 8 – 15 – 3

Race 4 – 19:00 – 1600m – 4Up Class 4 Handicap
GOTTINGEN was just touched off into 6th place last time out when returning after a 61-day forced absence. The 10-year old son of Holy Roman Emperor should enjoy this step up in trip and on his second up record, rates one of the leading contenders here. WOOLDIX lands a plum draw for his return to racing after a 2-month absence. He seems better suited to the Turf and having won first up once before, he looks set for a big performance over what will be his 3rd attempt over this trip. FERKING AUTRECHENE went close to winning last time out when having a comeback run over 1400m. Clemence Le Gland retains the ride and if overcoming barrier 16, he should feature prominently in the finish.

Selections: 7 – 6 – 14 – 11 – 4

Race 5 – 19:30 – 1600m – 3 YO Class 2 Handicap
CHILL CHAINNIGH wasn’t disgraced in that comeback run last time out, over the mile. He finds another useful draw second up and the son of Wootten Bassett should have the improvement to come for an excellent winning chance over the same trip. DERBYSIM returns to the Turf after a modest performance on the All-Weather last time out. He steps up to the mile for the first time and is reunited with Theo Bachelot who knows him well. Having won on debut, he proved that he should enjoy racing fresh, and with that in mind he’ll be involved in the finish first up. LAURETTA takes on the boys, but she will be looking to build on that promising debut run just under 3-months back. That was over 1900m on the All-Weather and the slight drop in trip should suit.

Selections: 1 – 5 – 7 – 2 – 6

Race 6 – 20:00 – 1600m – 3 YO Claim
LILLY BIRD has the best form on paper, and it is encouraging to see Theo Bachelot retain the ride on the son of Literato. With just 7 runs under his belt, he will have plenty of scope to improve on the form he has shown so far. From pole position, he looks well placed to double his career win tally here. ELIAURE was showing promising form in those three starts towards the end of last year. The daughter of Muhtathir clearly needed that comeback run in March and the heavy conditions may have just been her undoing. The 3,5kg claiming apprentice retains the ride and she should go a lot closer over this slightly shorter trip. POLLY ROCKET was showing signs of a big performance before that lengthy leave of absence. She starts off over the mile and if not too in need of the run, she should be one of the leading contenders and deserves consideration.

Selections: 14 – 2 – 15 – 4 – 1

Race 7 – 20:30 – 2100m – 3 YO Claim
INCA MAN has had two promising runs this year, with his latest effort resulting in a well-deserved 2nd. He returns after a 2-month absence here and having shaped in a first up scenario prior to this, he won’t be too in need of the run and has the form to win this. BED SHY will be looking to find that Turf form she showed in her first two attempts last autumn. The 2400m may have come a shade too soon for the daughter of Rajsamon last time and the slight drop in trip should suit here. With the 3,5kg claimer taking the mount this time, she must go into the equation on what she has shown so far.

Selection: 10 – 16 – 1 – 15 – 6

Race 8 – 21:00 – 2300m – 3 YO Maiden
No form to go on this closing event on the programme. It’s a field of first-timers which makes things very tough to assess. HARDI DU MESNIL and HOPE YOU DO get the services of Gregory Benoist and Theo Bachelot respectively and if finding support in the betting, they could be the two who fight this out. Close attention needs to be paid to the betting fluctuations which could tell the tale here.

Selections: 4 – 3 – 1 – 6 – 9
