LUDLOW
Race 4 No4 SIR SHOLOKHOV (Nap)
Trainer: Harry Whittington – Jockey: Daryl Jacob
Whittington looks to have found a great opportunity for SIR SHOLOKHOV to make it three from three over fences. His tendency to jump right didn’t help his cause at Newton Abbot, but he was still able to overcome it. Off a 4lb higher mark round this more suitable track he should put another one on the board.
Race 8 No2 COLONIAL EMPIRE
Trainer: Tim Vaughan – Jockey: Charlie Price
COLONIAL EMPIRE gets the nod over C’Mon Kenny in the concluding bumper. The selection impressed when scoring on debut at Exeter last month and should build on it, while his rival had to work harder to achieve the same result on his own introduction at this course.
PLUMPTON
Race 1 No10 DECORA (Each Way)
Trainer: Sheena West – Jockey: Marc Goldstein
West does well with cast-offs from the Channon yard and it might be worth siding with Conduit filly DECORA to upset more experienced rivals in this maiden hurdle. The chestnut operates well off a break, and has been freshened up since her underwhelming run at Lingfield in early March.
Race 3 No7 SOARLIKEANEAGLE (Nap)
Trainer: Richard Rowe – Jockey: James Davies
The diminutive SOARLIKEANEAGLE runs off a 5lb higher mark than when beating Lawtop Legend here three weeks ago. We will see how that horse gets on in an earlier race, but the selection is in good form and can go back-to-back for his local trainer.
Race 6 No5 VIVE LE ROI
Trainer: Tony Carroll – Jockey: Jason Dixon
Veteran VIVE LE ROI may find this easy track, which has the second shortest circumference in English jumping, affording him the chance to completely dominate from the front. He needs to recover from a heavy defeat at Uttoxeter last time, but this is an easier race in which he can.
Race 7 No3 PRAIRIE TOWN
Trainer: Tony Carroll – Jockey: Harry Bannister
Plumpton is new territory for PRAIRIE TOWN, who needs to raise his game to win but is a rare runner here for his trainer. He doesn’t do anything in a hurry, but if a change of venue sparks life in to him he could prove dangerous to paper favourite Fizzlestix, and at a price.
