A modest Class 5 affair kicks off the meeting this Friday and ADMIRAL WINSTON gets the nod to get the job done this time, after a frustrating run of form. The son of Declaration Of War boxed on well last time, when overcoming a tricky barrier and from draw 2 he should be able to land his second win here. ONE WORLD should be the biggest danger to the top selection, after that solid effort last time when dropping to this trip and reverting to this surface. Duric retains the ride and he’ll be a big threat.

An Open Maiden greets punters in the second race and its CLERGYMAN who looks most likely to find the winners’ enclosure. He comes off a 117-day absence but with two useful performances to his name, he has the credentials to make a big impression here. He hasn’t been fully tested in both trials so far, but his latest preparation should be enough to land him the ‘leading contender’ badge. CLARTON SUPREME has had no luck with draws in his last few starts and the same applies here. With that said, he showed a smart turn of foot from well of the speed last time out and a repeat of that effort could bring him right into contention.

THOMAS DELAGO is the top pick in the 3rd race, a competitive Class 4 event over the 1000m Polytrack. He is tough to oppose on recent efforts and with a bit of luck from barrier 9, Beuzelin should give him a nice chance to land the lions share of the prize money. LIM’S KNIGHT has been in good consistent form and on his Class 3 effort in that penultimate run, he should have a realistic chance of fighting this one out.

LUCKY RED put forward a solid effort last time out, when finishing behind BRING ME JOY. He appears to have a slipped to a competitive mark of 25 now and lines up better off at the weights with the former this time. On his current course and distance form, he is a major contender in the 4th race. MY WIN might be better suited to the 1000m, but he lands a plum draw here. The son of Casino Prince has fallen in the ratings in recent times and one suspects his winning turn is just around the corner.

A 1400m Class 3 event takes us through the halfway mark and its GOLD STAR who appears to be one of the better bets on the card. An honest sort, he should have no issues with the rise in trip and should be right there at the business end. FEDERATION could be the biggest threat to the top one. He is hard to fault on his recent efforts and with his regular rider aboard, he should be right there if things go to plan.

WAR PRIDE has shown good improvement in his last two starts, since having the blinkers fitted. The son of Tavistock seems to be enjoying taking the early lead and if he repeats those tactics in this 7th race, he will be very hard to pass in the latter stages. Powell retains and he must be followed. SHANTI finished right behind the top selection last time out, in just her 2nd outing. From a plum draw, she should enjoy this rise in trip and looks the biggest threat.

The penultimate race on the card is a Class 4 test over the 1700m Polytrack and top weight, DAZZLE GOLD, looks the one to beat. He will be cherry ripe for this peak run after a short absence and the Burridge trained son of Lemon Drop Kid should relish the extra ground here. His biggest danger will more than likely be TIGER FORCE who comes into this race off the back of a smart victory last time out. From another plum draw, Maia retains the ride and he must be respected.

The 8th and final race looks nicely set up for the likes of SACRED GIFT to end the meeting on a winning note. He made up plenty of ground in his last start when caught 4-wide around the bend and he did well to finish 3rd. If finding a smooth passage this time, he should atone here. YULONG EXPRESS has been in good consistent form in recent times and despite the wide draw he has been dealt here, he certainly has the finish to come from off the pace and go right into contention. He will also be looking for a bit more luck in running this time after being held up at a crucial stage in that run, but he has the form to fight this out.
