Shalulile has been the standout striker in the DStv Premiership over the past seasons, coming away with the Lesley Manyathela Golden Boot Award twice in the last three seasons.

This campaign the Namibian marksman netted 23 times in the league, falling just three short of Zambian Collins Mbesuma’s record for most goals in a single season in the Premier Soccer League (PSL).

Shalulile has inevitably been linked with a number of clubs, mainly overseas, but the Brazilians have persuaded the 28-year-old to stay on and help them in their quest for an elusive second CAF Champions League title.

“We are delighted to announce our Namibian hitman Peter Shalulile has signed a 5-year contract extension with The Brazilians!,” the club tweeted.

“More goals, more celebrations, more records, more Shalulile.”

Shalulile has scored 52 goals and made 15 assists in 85 appearances for Downs since joining from Highlands Park at the end of the 2019/2020 season.
