On a dominant final day, the WSB Cape Cobras chased down the 227 runs to win their Sunfoil Series clash against the Hollywoodbets Dolphins by eight wickets at the Pietermaritzburg Oval on Sunday.

The Dolphins continued their innings on Sunday with their score on 260/8 a lead of 195 with Rob Frylinck and Rabian Engelbrecht at the wicket.

It was a solid start from the pair as they added another 30 runs in the morning session, before Engelbrecht fell to Junaid Dawood for a plucky 21.

Kerwin Mungroo did not last long, and he was the last man to fall when he was caught in the slips by Andrew Puttick off Dane Paterson for a duck.

Frylinck was left stranded once again as he recorded his second half century of the game without losing his wicket. His 65 not out in the first innings was crucial at the back end as was his 50 not out in the second dig.

The Dolphins had set the visitors 227 to win the game and the Cobras lost Pieter Malan for 18 and then Puttick for 20 with the score on 78.

There might have been a glimmer of hope for the Dolphins, however Zubayr Hamza and Stiaan van Zyl destroyed that glint when they put on 149 for their third wicket to comfortably guided their side over the line.

A classy hundred for Hamza, where he hit 19 boundaries, was the deciding factor. His 109 came off 182 deliveries and was the difference between the two teams’ second innings.

Van Zyl provided the perfect support for youngster as we notched up his second fifty of the game as well. He ended 66 not out off 99 balls to help his side to an emphatic victory.

The Hollywoodbets Dolphins will now travel to the Wanderers where they take on the bizhub Highveld Lions from 15-18 March.
